Old setups : more AMS motors than anyone I know - Alpha 9 w/ AMS 3.8, GTX3582R Gen II w/ AMS 4.1 billet crank, GTX3582R Gen II w/ AMS 4.0 big bore billet crank and of course FBO E85.

It's been a couple years since I considered doing a full build. I'm finally at the point where I'm ready to pull the trigger, but I'm struggling with where to stop.

I'd take a step back and think about what you want the car to do to make you happy?

Yeah, doing a build isn’t likely going to change much, if anything, with respect to my feelings on the car. I love it as-is, which is why I didn’t pull the trigger on a build a couple years ago. There is absolutely no need for me to upgrade any further from FBO other than having an absolutely bad ass car. If I pull the trigger on the build, I’ll likely do a few events I wouldn’t have otherwise, but is that worth close to six figures? Definitely not when I look at it from a “reasonable person” perspective. LolI'd take a step back and think about what you want the car to do to make you happy?

It's worth noting I haven't officially sent my car off to Cicio because I decided to go a different route.

One thing that think about, in-line components eventually fail, think it’s just exacerbated when you are running double the hp

Think that’s what Jan is running and his car rips.

I almost pulled the trigger on an Elite + build a couple years ago, but decided against it. I'm only considering a full build by AMS at this point due to them being local.

I'm underway on the Alpha 15x with a Shep1k. I'm trying to decide if stock crank will be ok when tuning only to max out the Shep1. Anyone pushed a stock crank to max a Shep 1k?

I think only your builder can answer that. Based on my discussion with AMS, the stock crank would be a limiting factor before the 1k. That's why I was debating between their stage 1 and stage 2 motor build. Stage 2 motor build includes the billet crank and would allow me to max out the turbos. I'll admit that I didn't specifically ask about maxing out the transmission, but I have to believe they would have mentioned that upgrading to the stage 2 build to max out the turbos would also require a stage 4 transmission build if that were the case.
Good question though. Please post what you find out if you care to share.

Could do the front diff and ETS whole it’s apart and save yourself downtime and a good deal of cash.

Im going to max out my 1k drag pack prety soon on the new alpha15x but i guess turbos to max out before 1k as ive seen people running 1500 whp and over 1100 wtq easily on 1k drag pack trans ..
I misinterpreted your post. You're looking to max out the 1k on a stock crank. That thought never crossed my mind, as I figured the stock crank would be a limiting factor before the 1k.

Well now I'm all sorts of messed up. I thought you and Hylndr were the same person (not actually), but thought I was responding to the same person...Sorry for the confusion. Enjoying the car?

Thinking about doing the 4.1 stage 2 crate motor so I can max out the 14x turbos. I also have room to go bigger in the future if I want to. Decisions, decisions.
You will need drag radials at a minimum to put that power down on the street. Once you do that, you can throw out the window the amazing handling qualities this car has. Something to think about if handling is up there on your priority list.

I think Jan runs R888 at times but he’s on motec which is a huge upgrade on the street.
