I got the latest DVD Nav map update. The instructions say I have to leave the engine on for 90 minutes while this thing updates. Is there any reason I could not do this update with the car on the battery charger instead? Does the engine have to be on for some reason other than not running the battery down?

I tried it with the car connected to the battery charger with the engine off, it works!

Yes, battery charger is fine. The update literally takes several hours, about an hour per disc.

Where is such an update even purchased?

I got an email from Nissan offering the latest update for $149 plus free shipping before 12/31/19. It appears to be on sale for this price on the Nissan website.

I would definitely use the battery charger versus letting the engine run, the update took about 2.5 hours to complete, not the 90 minutes they said it would take.
