Kind of sad that the over $210k new edition Nismo on special N edition Dunlop tires gets beaten by a full second by the 495 HP Z51 edition C8 Corvette on a set of P4S's at Thunderhill West for the 2019 edition of Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year. The C8's as tested price was $88k, but you could get the same track performance for quite a bit less, probably around $70k so a third the price of the new Nismo. Nismo also loses to a new 443 HP 911 Carrera S by 3/4's of a second

Everyone else is improving while the R35 stands still. Vette will overheat after 10 minutes though haha! Every bew model does...

This is ripe for another “Hitler” scene... “... my fuhrer, your $210k Nismo was beat by by a $88k corvette...”

The GTR is a 10 year old platform and really hasn't changed that much while all these other cars are newer generations with updated everything.

I would still be scared to drive a high horsepower rear engine car of any kind compared to my GTR.

Closer to 15 going on 20 years old now. Design and development was done around 2005 and the first ones were sold in 2007, iirc. Yowza!!

This is my opinion obviously, but without chassis improvements  or overall new car ‘R36’ these type of results are just gonna continue and the GTR is gonna place lower and lower in these test’s.

I think it's sad that you would show up at a track day with your brand new super expensive  2020 Nismo with racy looking fender louvres no less like a GT3RS and get lapped by a base model 992 Carrera S. Used to be a base model GT-R would lap a Turbo, and Nissan was just so proud of that, as was I when I bought my 2008.

This 100%.

Current Nissan bean counters have long forgotten the original GTR development goal of 911 turbo beating performance at 2/3 of its cost.

That result does not persuade me in any way to get rid of my GTR for a corvette.  I like my car fine, even if it won't beat these other cars on the track.  I daily drive my car, and with the power the new upgrades will give me, AWD is a must.  Can't wait to get my car back in a few weeks.

I’m with you. I honestly feel like I’d be getting rid  of my dog.plus I’m honest,my car is NEVER going in a road course. So these results don’t really concern me. For the brand and other enthusiasts. I can see why it matters

I still think the car looks incredible. And for a street car (which is where most of the sports cars will be used) it is hard to beat. I am a bit partial though 😂😁

Ditto.

AND we could do it on tires we drove there on with full air conditioning.

They also rated the 992 dead last... I would take the whole thing with a grain of salt LOL

Oh man I tried to read that.  Failed.  So much rubbish and caveat everywhere.  Plus the lap times were set by one of the editors?  Umm why?  If we wanted inconsistencies and a shitty test methodology we could just watch 1320 videos.

Fuck all that noise.  GT-R, including the nismo, are still beasts with massive potential above stock form and a presence few cars can match on the road.
