I think it's overpriced based on hp/weight at first glance. Interior looks good, exterior is meh but might change when I see it in person.

Also not a fan of it being a BMW parts bin car from all it shares with the new Z4.

The one thing I'm glad about it finally being "officially" announced is that I'll stop seeing rumors/spy shots/thoughts about it lol.

Is this the BMW twin turbo or a single turbo twin scroll ?

If two snails, for that price will be a fun 10 second ride once it’s got a JB4, downpipe and e85

From the news I've read it's a single turbo.

Boo hoo that sucks - but makes sense. It’s the N55 format vs the N54.

Still a pretty healthy aftermarket and should be able to hit 500whp easy enough.

It uses a detuned version of the B58 found in the Z4

Looks wise I really like the MK5 other then the vertical vents under the headlights. I’m rather certain good looking front bumpers will solve that issue rather easily. However I’m really let down due to lack of a targa top, perhaps future years will offer it.

As far as performance goes 335hp is underwhelming, I was thinking it would have 450-500hp. However if the aftermarket really gets behind this motor I could imagine it outdoing the 2jz in time. The MK5 is more or less the same weight (50lbs+/-) of the MK4 depending if its targa top and turbo vs NA. Toyota claimed a 0-60mph of 4.6 for the MK4 while the MK5 does it in 4.1 so it is indeed quicker then its predecessor. I’m not sure if Nissan is planning a Z-TT coming soon but it would likely out perform the Supra with ease and could probably do it for less $ then the base model MK5 costs. The MK5 should have at least been partnered with the 7speed DCT from the M4 instead of the auto 8speed it’s comes with. Again maybe down the line future models of the MK5 might get this transmission.

Lastly I was semi worried over the years that Toyota was going to try dethroning the GTR as the top performance car from the land of the rising sun. I tend to forget that the MK4 was more aimed at the 300ZX-TT then the GTR. It’s the amazing work of the aftermarket that brought Supra performance levels to rival those of the R33/R34. For now the only Jap car that competes with GT-R is the new NSX. Makes me happy I’ve been enjoying the gtr for so damn long and it’s still neck and neck with Japan’s best.

I'm WAY more excited about the new Shelby GT500.

700+hp, DCT, and looks like it may be decent in the handling department.

The new GT500 is indeed badass. As is the yet to be revealed C8 vette. As far as jap rides go the Supra is more in the Z’s class. And the rumors are the “400z” will have 475hp from a V6TT. And I imagine the Z will be able to offer that package at the same price the base Supra costs which is $20k more then the current Z.

Toyota will sell far more at 60k but this car is a sell out...................All the trash talk about the GTR beater ?????????

The proto type looked great but this is just a BMW with a Yoto badge.

This car will likely outperform the mk4 in every way given time for the aftermarket to develope. So it could very well end up being quite the competitor to the r35. It already beats the mk4 rather easily stock vs stock in every category. And it’s a fair amount cheaper then the mk4 was new when you consider inflation.

IDK....there are just so many other cars that seem to be pushing tech more than this.  The mustang GT 500 is pretty impressive.

But.

This has supra has me interested

After 25 years, the new supra should out perform the MKIV.  Toyota obviously decided they want to sell a lot of these cars, compared the the measly 12,000 MKIV's they sold.  It will be interesting to see what the aftermarket develops for this car.  I know Doug with WGP said they are developing a Chevy V8 conversion for the new Supra.  That should be interesting.

As far as aftermarket and reliability is concerned an LS swap sounds like a win. Will sound 10x better also

I really don’t think people want to buy a brand new Supra just to toss the engine immediately. The vast majority will keep the i6
