Add another TSM build to the list...  this time with a different DIY flavor though.

The basic details on the build are:

- TSM 3.8L long block w/ stock crank and 'street+' heads with +1mm valves

- TSM Elite+ turbo kit w/ 3.5" inlets & intakes

- Jacks Transmission 'Drag 1100' w/ full gear set, 18-plate high friction clutch, drop gears, ETS output shaft & carbon clutch piston seals + billet front diff

- TSM -10AN catch can system

- Buschur 'Race' Intercooler

- DSS pro axles & Buschur front driveshaft

- ETS 3.5" downpipes/3.5" midpipes/4" exhaust

- AMS dual brushless w/ ID2000s

- E85 114 Ignite tuned by Rob Baker formerly of Kaizen Tuning on EcuTek

Getting ready to go under the knife at my 'shop'

'Drag 950' sent out to Jack for some updates to the 'Drag 1100'

Time to pull the motor

Previously the car was built with an HKS GT1000 turbo kit that made a little over 1100whp and went 9.3@159 on a soft launch

Didn't know ETS made a 3.5" downpipe/midpipe combo for the stock turbo flange, but found this for sale on the other forum - may have to add mufflers or fab a 2nd rear section to swap in and out.

While the motor was out I upgraded to a Jacks billet front diff - interesting to compare vs stock

Made some progress getting things dressed over the weekend and should have it installed after tying up a few loose ends

Looks like a great build. It will be interesting to hear the driving impressions completed to your old setup.

Very interested to see the difference on paper and your driving impressions as I personally run the HKS GT1000 kit.

What was your motivation to make the switch?

I had an issue in cylinder 6 of my original motor that left it making 99psi compression with 66% leak down. Once the motor had to come out I decided I'd upgrade turbos in the process. There was a brief debate of HKS GT1000+ vs Elite+, but these were my findings when researching and talking to my tuner and TSM who have built all 4 options:

HKS GT1000 = ~1,100whp limit
Elite = ~1,100whp limit
HKS GT1000+ = ~1,200whp limit
Elite+ = ~1,275whp limit

So a potential 175whp gain on the swap, which will hopefully put me over 200mph in the half mile.

I didn't want to go any further on power or turbo size due to sticking with stock crank and not wanting to push the limits of the trans. I also street roll race frequently and need great transitional turbo response to avoid issues on the start while setting up anti lag.

Gotcha. And thanks for info. I had no idea the Elite+ had that much HP potential. I thought Elite+ was about the same as HKS kit.

I made 1090whp on a Mustang Dyno with my GT1000 which is right around par with what you posted. Elite will be an awesome turbo for response and power all in one package.

I recently got a taste of this power level and man....not one car or motorcycle in my neighborhood can touch me. Can't imagine what another 175hp with similar response is like!

+1, the same reason I went with Elite+....I cant wait!

She's alive. Brought it up to temp and drained the oil. Everything looks good so adjusting the tune and putting some miles on it this week.
