1,000 hp Corvette?  What kind of driving classes would they have to give you to learn how to drive that thing.  Sheesh,  that's a death wish car for most people even with all wheel drive.  Even 800 on a rear wheel drive car is crazy on the street.

I wonder if they really will put that much power in the C8.

The Corvette was always within reach of the somewhat poor man's dreams. Now, looks like Chevy is going to out price it and be upwards in the high end range. I can see the 800hp and 1000hp models being $175-200K base pricing.

I'm tracking a 1000hp GTR (800 pump) and will be taking my ETS 1700 build with 1200 on pump.

Yeah, but your car isn't stock.  That new corvette will have those numbers stock (although I think it may be crank HP, not RWHP).

Guaranteed it’s crank or they have chosen to market this corvette differently than the previous 65 years before it ;)
TSM Billet Crank 4.1 w/ CP billet pistons, TSM Elite Prime turbos, TSM Wet Sump Oling upgrade, flex fuel, ETS mid and down pipe, STM titanium axle back, STM race FMIC, ID2000’s, Shep One K with drop gears and all the goodies., DS Axles, Volk Saga 18” 10/12” (MT ET Streets), Advan GT Premium 20” R888. 1450+ hp / 1210+ tq

Old setups : Alpha 9 w/ AMS 3.8, GTX3582R Gen II w/ AMS 4.1 billet crank, GTX3582R Gen II w/ AMS 4.0 big bore billet crank and of course FBO E85.

Seems like even the C7 is too much..

It is.  High horsepower in a rear wheel drive chassis that is light, while a blast on track, gets scary quick unless you've been doing this a long time.

It's THE REASON I prefer all wheel drive cars with MECHANICAL GRIP.  They are easier to drive well, and fast.  Period.
