Last track day at COTA. Noticed a crazy wobble and pitted in. Running -3.5 camber...may have to dial back slightly.

just wondering are you checking your tire temps every few laps? some tires need to be cooled way down after a short amount of time.

choerizo,

in all seriousness, do you measure the temps across the tire?  Are you running too much camber or was it just the day and temps?

I do have pyrometer temps logged. I'll post up the temps when I get home. I didn't measure this past track event, but I have not made any major suspension changes since last use. This was track day #5 on them...I thought I could have gotten a few more days as the wear holes were still fairly intact.

Yeah, way too hot on the inner edge of the tread. I would also drop your pressures about 5psi give or take. Cheers!

Those temps look good. You could take a little camber out of the rears. You want to keep the temps under 220 for perfect grip. 180 to 200 works really good. I think those tires had a bunch of heat cycles on them and they really aren't designed for the weight of a GTR.

Also driving over the curbs at COTA can damage the tires too! I saw at least 3 other Pirelli slicks come apart that weekend on different GTR's. That's why I use Hoosier R7s. I didn't have any tire problems.

What sort of life do you get with R7s? Supposedly these Advans were developed for the GT-R but 5 tracks with 4-5 x 20-25min sessions per day doesn't seem like they last very long.

The R7s were done after 3 days at COTA. Usually they only last about 150 to 200 miles. At COTA they went about 300 miles. They don't come apart. They start loosing there grip.

How many heat cycles is that bse? You run every session it'd be like 15?

That's not bad!

So ~14 sessions?  Or do COTA days typically end up only being 4 sessions a day?
