helix, what pads are you running now? do you swap out for track or just leave them in?

I'm running the Carbotech XP12s up front right now. I also bought some 1521s to change out, but I've been too lazy. The XP12s don't squeal that much on the street, and I can drive around it for the most part.
I'm cool running the XP12s all round, though I don't really want to have to pull the discs off to have them get surfaced. Does look like the most cost effective option though.. Will probably end up doing that.
Fine elf, you win this round.

No need to resurface, IMO. Drive it awhile on the street and you will clean up the rotor face - then bed them in on the night before a trackday. People who bed in pads and then put 1000 street miles have no idea what they are doing.

So the theory there is the street driving will abrade the surface due to low temperatures, and remove the old transfer layer just fine. Then a usual bedding process (X hard brakes from speed to rolling) will produce a new transfer layer onto the rotor. That about right?
My only concern is the abrading process not working properly etc etc. Not to call you crazy, though you do live in Arizona, and I assume are fully aware that summer is a season, but I'd like to hear what others think too.

Nailed it. XP12's need several hundred degrees F to start laying down material into the rotor. Summer or winter has nothing to do with it. You might need one more pass during bed-in if it's wintertime, and you want to be all scientific about it.

I phrased it poorly. What I meant to say is, I may understand what you're saying, but you're crazy (AZ, summer, and yet you still live there), so i wanna hear from other less insane folks. :-)Nailed it.
