Is this posible? Has anyone seen a FBO do it?
Did the stock tranny survived the torture? :)

I don't think you would want to try for that with stock axles and 1st gear

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I was under the impression that stock axles could break from wheel hop.

I ask because I was able to pull a 1.37s on the 60' with slicks and wanted to know if I had room for improvements.

Likely no.

The quickest Ive had a customer go with an OEM trans and slicks is 1.39 60ft

Typically when i try to launch harder the clutch slips, Your also asking a LOT from the OEM first gear.

I think its also hard to do at OEM power.  First gear isnt any different on stock turbos, but to run a 1.29 60ft your going to need to be going around 50mph at the 60ft, and to do that, you need more than stock power.

Im sure a middle 1.3x is possible.  But 1.2x would need more power or less weight.

I know a guy that did 1.34s on a FBO with slicks, but very low psi in the slicks (not sure how much, but likely less than 15psi).

Okay looks like I'm gonna try to lower psi and see what I can get

Also keep in mind that there's a big difference between "possible" and "reliable"... your criteria make that gap fairly Grand Canyonish ;)

Quick follow up on this. A very good friend of mine yesterday, on a very simple FBO setup on E85 (Sunoco) tuned by Omar Pollock @ Predator Performance (cobb, intakes, wastegates/actuators, downpipes, exhaust, no passenger seat, slicks, stock tranny and stock turbos)  managed to do 1.31s in the 60 feet. He ran 9.85@133mph. That's the best 60 feet I've seen from a FBO car.

I couldn't improved my best 1.37s 60 feet, so I ran 10.0x@133mph all night long =)

1.3 is an awesome 60ft time!  What launch RPM are you on and how much BOTL?

Someone...

Are you running any type of transmission brace or upgraded axles with the slicks on stock transmission?

Wow. I run a 1.5x and that seems good for most FBOs around me. 1.3x is insane :). EcuTek or Cobb? I usually spin over 3600 Rpm. 4700? That’s impressive.

1.5x is decent on a 20” rim. Would be trash for an 18 or a 17 with stock turbos. Remember anything in the 4’s and under is typically adjusted at track.

So if your driving around and show up at a track on 20s and drive it home and run 1.5s that’s solid.

Nice to see a time back in the day when Bill@SIR would chime.

Yes... i agree except we are all on 18” nittos :). I have run a 10.3 @135. My buddy has run a 10.1 @ 135. And i cut better 60 ft times... damn... clearly i need a little re-tune up top. But no one is running a 1.4 60 or less that i know on FBO.

NT05R 18? If so, why not run the MT ETs and knock down 1.3’s all day and the tire is better. The 05R I hated because car would sway.

That alone is a 9.9 @ 136+

You should have marginal BOTL as well when running an 18 and a sticky tire.
