Just finished my daily driver project and thought i'd share. I love that it's something different and most wouldn't look twice when you drive by.

This 'project' wasn't smooth at all..faced quite a few hurdles and broke some parts in the process. It all came together at the end of the day with the help of some great people.

This car is such a blast to drive and will surely give a stockish GTR a run for it's money on the highway. Also now that it's been lowered 2" all around and complimented with a track spec alignment it handles extremely well. With good tires this thing should be pretty quick on the circuit for being what it is, traction will be an issue since it's FWD and open dif but haven't had too much of a problem so far. The noises it makes are wonderful too..almost sounds like a rally car.

Big thanks to Graham, John, Dan and Rick at Berg Racing in Webster, NY

Thanks. Tim they are really fun cars, pretty much a baby GTR. Perfect for a daily/track car that you can beat the hell out of without feeling guilty.

Anyway still waiting on the call from the dealer about pricing, they want 1.5k over book value. If I can't get them down a bit i'm going to pass and wait for Evo prices to drop even more.

If you can do a stick, I have a 2010 Evo on my lot (that a buddy traded in)

Already has an FP Red, Shep trans and transfer case, and an E85 tune.

I could take your Jeep on trade.

Thanks for the offer man, can't do stick anymore though. I'd take you up on that otherwise.

Might be passing on this X unless i can sell my jeep before it sells.

Ordered some of the new Toyo R888r's for the GTI. Shouldn't have any issue putting the power down now...before when it was on continental extreme contact's the car spun until 4th gear! Also swapped out the headlight, high beam, and parking lights since you could barely see 3ft in front of the car at night.

Update 4/2/2018: Tried to mount the r888r's today but the wheel lock shred itself apart. Word of advice - don't use anti-seize/thread compounds on wheel bolts.

The shop that put the stuff on the threads offered to help out and replace with a stud conversion kit. Definitely going above and beyond..did not expect them to do that.

May not have got the tires on today but it will def work out, the studs will be much safer at my power level on track.

Trying not to be a dick here....

Every manual ever written says that.  Every ... one....

So why would you do that?

Hard braking hardens that shit to concrete.  AND contributes to overtorquing the bolts.  Sorry Dan.  Love you, you're a great forum member, and I'm glad you shared that with the group.

I've done my share of stupid shit in my time too.  And shared every one.

Oh I know Shawn. I would never put anything on the lug nuts or wobble bolts. If I saw the shop doing it i would've stopped them right away and said something. Was pretty pissed when i found out.

Been trying to get these tires on for almost 3 weeks...shop after shop. Mostly troubles because my car is too low or their machine will scratch the wheel. Didn't expect the bolts to be welded on..

I own up to all the stupid shit i do too but this time it wasn't my fault which is surprising  The shop is making it right though which definitely counts as a great service in my book. Hopefully they will never put that shit on a car again.

A SHOP DID THAT?

Recommendation - find a new shop.  That's one of the most basic "don't ever do this" things.

Holy crap.  Sorry.  I thought *you* did that.  If somebody who does this for a living did this, that's a dope slap time.
