From recent threads regarding fires possibly stemming from the evap canister, here's a quick how-to on removing the evap canister. You'll notice there is an issue by looking at your right rear fender liner and seeing a wet spot and/or noticing gas smell from inside the cabin.

Parts:

14950-CA00A EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CANISTER

14935-JF00A VALVE ASSY - CO (for 2009/2010 models)

Offending area:

Remove rear wheel and jack up vehicle. Remove fender liner. There are 3 bolts that need to be removed from the underbody (2x10mm and 1x12mm). The rest are all plastic clips that can either be popped out or screwed out.  Once the liner is removed, you will see the canister in all its glory.

The canister is just held on by 2x10mm bolts one on each side. They are threaded upwards and are quite long and kind of difficult to access. It helps to remove the front sensor to gain access to the right bolt.

Remove the top two hoses. It helps to twist the hose once you have moved the self tightening clasps.

The final piece to remove is the evap vent control valve. Unplug the rear electrical connection and then twist the whole valve assembly counter-clockwise and it should pull out with a little force (there is a small o-ring holding it in place). You will be left with this.

Note the vent control valve hose leads back to the frame of the car (**need to take pics of other end from trunk**)

Free at last. Weigh on scale. New empty weight should be: ___ lbs

Notice older style valve vs newer style (photo not mine):

What are you doing in place of it? Where are you routing the left over hoses?

since it's suppose to be fuel vapor and not actually fuel, could it be leaking out of that lower valve?

does it need a serious case of sealant there?

Seriously, though...I believe the fuel is coming from the holes in the subframe/crossmember into which the canister overflow dumps. I think it dumps through the larger diameter hose...if I correctly recall what BSE said.

EDIT: larger diameter hose is line from fuel tank to canister.

That hose seems to be tied closer to the center of the car though (trunk area)...I'll have to trace it tomorrow and follow where it goes but I couldn't see any hanging hoses near the canister or where the wet spot would be.

Doing this soon myself. Figured I'd share the diagrams I found. I'm putting a little k&n on the fuel tank breather which is 17050R, 18792E goes into the trunk.

Maybe the valve pulls air from the trunk to help evap?

14935-JF00B Does JF00B work also on first gen. gtrs?

Been working with enshiu on my car for the past 2 days. This guy is a mad scientist. He knows his stuff about GT-Rs. We spent the past few days changing brakes, rotors and upgrading my  gotboost full intercooler piping. Enshiu will post pics of my car later.

Still up on jack stands for a few more weeks.
