So I really like having a cloth tow strap vs the traditional half moon ones.
I just like the way they look, don't slap against the body work like the metal ring (though it doesn't do it that much), and is lighter weight (though again not much).
When I was searching for cloth tow straps, I saw a super nice one made for BMW's but the thread pitch wouldn't fit our cars.
Taylor C, on the other forum had a thread where is friend was making custom tow straps and I asked him if he could make a cloth one for us. Unfortunately, no dice and I thought that this project was dead.
Well, Taylor is pretty persistent! He found out who made those tow straps (IND) and contacted them and they stated they could make some for us!!!
Sweet, but some downsides. We need 15 people to order and I think it will be $150 a piece
**I need to double check that price...I thought I had it in an email but can't find it**
But like the IND link above, the hardware is CNC'd with a rubber washer, that when tighten you can still have it level.
ANY ONE IN?!?!!?!
Finally, if we don't get enough people, all isn't lost. He did make one for a Porsche 911, but it isn't a nice CNC'd piece. What they do is take a stock tow hook and weld it to the end piece. They look pretty good too! Here are some pics of the custom 911 piece.
