Any plans to do different brakes, carbon or otherwise?  I know the world was a bit bummed when the NISMO was announced and it had the same brakes as the regular models, so if you truly want to build a NISMO++... ;)

That'd be excellent.

Eventually I will address the brakes. Not too many carbon options that I "love". Most likely upgraded lines/pads/fluid/steel rotors.

I think the carbon fibre alone makes the Nismo so much better and more outstanding than the regular Gtrs.

This car is def way superior to a 991 Gt3rs in my op.

I saw one this weekend and the porsches has absolutly no carbon, nothing, all plastic on the edges.. very disappointed of that ..

Big Ups for making the Nismo even better.

Thank you for the kind comments. I do really feel like the NISMO is special. I just wish there would have only been one type of NISMO (not this N-Attack nonsense).

Great thread and Pics JB!

I can't wait to hear about the results at the track!

I've been thinking on going with a Trans. cooler and always wondered about the ducting also.

Can't all this cutting of the duct be avoided by going with a new front bumper?

I've been looking at the Overtake hood because after 1 track day I melted-bubbled the clearcoat on my Mines NACA ducts near the openings....HEAT!

It seems the Overtake front bumper might be a way around all this cutting and I could possibly run duct work to my rotors.

Getting a new bumper for the NISMO was never an option for me. I don't know that I've ever really liked aftermarket body parts. Even the overtake stuff isn't what it's cracked up to be. I saw an Overtake car, and it kind of looks "cheap in an expensive way". Nissan has a hard enough time getting panels to line up without a gap the size of the grand canyon (like around my GTR headlights), I doubt the aftermarket can really do much better. I'm also not the biggest fan of having entire panels in exposed carbon (I like my paint). All that being said, it's personal preference. Just know that any claims of aerodynamic improvements with aftermarket body panels are also highly subjective. It's important to think about the aero balance, as the OEM car is meant for everything to work together. My suggestion would be to stick to cutting the OEM bumper.

I'll be logging the car on the track, and will share results.

Track day was very successful. Only issue I had was with factory hoses not having been sufficiently torqued. One below off during the second session, and a lower connection was leaking throughout the day (I was only able to make 15 pounds of peak boost instead of the 21-22 I normally make). Dave is very quick. A real track man (aka helix/black GTR).

The event was thanks to NISMOgirl who set it up as a late birthday present for me.

Shit ton of pics below w/ one video (my friend Shawn was driving the car, I was filming):

I really can't express how awesome it was watching this thing scramble for grip and blast onto the front straight while following it. Fucking sex on wheels.

That's a clockwise time, which is supposedly worth a couple of seconds. My best time counterclockwise is 1:25.5. Randy is no joke.

Dave

Our session was CCW. I think your 1:25.5 was clockwise.

Nah my 1:25.5 was counter clockwise:

The track was slower Saturday than in July, just too damn hot. What'd your car say ambient was on track? Like 120 degF? Crazy.

Jbkonis has owned a few GTRs and tracked both I think, he'd be the one to speak to the differences.  Plus I don't know what my car looks like rolling around the place.

I never tracked my last GTRs (13 and 14), but based on my street experience, I'd say the NISMO has a better balance overall. Very neutral. Rotates when you want it to, and doesn't under steer. The NISMO suspension is flatter, but not nearly as crashy. Actually more pleasurable to drive on the street than my previous 2014.

Regardless, the 14, and the NISMO are both set up very well from the factory.
