The JCR Carbon Fibre Inlet Manifold features full one piece Carbon Fibre construction utilising the latest CAD & CFD technology, fully replacing the upper and lower section of the stock VR38 Inlet Manifold.788b9e50ffbc7d2686b262ce95bfefaf.jpg

All one piece, just simply the mould lines from production, the Inlet Manifold is 100% one piece construction with only the balance pipe and Billet Aluminium Base plate bonded in post cure. This guarantees structural integrity and keeps the weight down to a minimum while maintaining huge strength.

 

We're very excited to share the testing results come release :)

We have moved the throttle body in the same plane, outwards by a small, yet significant amount. The idea was to allow customers to retain the use of their stock / aftermarket upper pipes, there was no real advantage moving the throttles any further so its a win win.

We will also have the JCR Carbon Fibre BOV Pipes available soon.. With and without BOV flange.

Looks like a damn nice piece! Those long runners looks like they will give a nice boost on the low to mid range.

Think about drinking water through a straw or through a garden hose, both equal length. Same 'low' volume of water would flow faster through the straw due to small cross-section (response) but same 'high' volume of water would flow easier in the hose (power). So to optimize both response and power, you would optimize runner's diameter and length (along with intercooler piping and volume and plenum volume etc), with probably some bias against either response or power. Therefore, in some naturally aspirated engines, you'd see dual runners: lower diameter for lower engine speeds and larger diameter for higher engine speeds and, naturally, higher power. The ecu would control a valve that switches between either runner.

In addition to what div said, there is also the concept of wave tuning.  Just like different length tubes in a musical instrument produce different frequency tones, if you can match up the target rpm to the corresponding length/area of runner you can benefit from a type of supercharging effect.  However, it is debatable (IMO) how effective this actually is when dealing with vehicles that are already boosted.  If you wish to spend your day running scenarios you can find lots of calculators like this:

The runners actually appear a lot longer, and smaller than they are, due to a couple of reasons:

 

The wall thickness of this piece is 4-5 times less than the stock cast aluminium inlet manifold, and up to 6-8 times less than some of the aftermarket manifolds. This is due to the limitations you face when casting aluminium, you need a good space in the mould for the material to flow during the casting process, with Carbon Fibre, this is a non issue.

 

Also, the fact that we have swept our runners and the lower portion is open showing individual runners rather than the usual one piece design found in the cast lowers does give the impression of more length.

 

Pressure differential is taken care of in the plenum, and the velocity is determined largely in the runners, the correct taper and internal shape is critical, that is the main reason we went to a full one piece design which has allowed us to make the transition from the head port shape to the round of the bell mouth over a much longer length. Without giving too much away, we are more than happy with where we have arrived at with the design of our Manifold :)

 

As for the looks.. 'Form follows function'

The speculative pricing at this time is £4500 ($6785) plus shipping. We will have this nailed down very shortly, but I'm pretty confident we should meet that price point.

That is on the way, the parts are still currently in development but far less of a technical challenge to create. We expect to launch the 3rd rail 12 injector option shortly after the general release of our regular 6 injector manifold :)

It certainly can be, but the Manifold would have to come back to us for the upgrade. The turn around time would be around 3-5 days.
