We recently had the pleasure of building a long time customer and friend's GT-R into a full Pro Eight TSM GT-R. We have been dealing with this customer over the course of about two years planning out which route he wanted to take with his GT-R. He began slowly by adding your normal basic bolt-ons and after several conversations about his goals and intended use for the car, he decided on our TSM Pro Eight turbos.

This beautiful GT-R came to us from half way across the country in Arizona. As with many of our GT-R builds, we coordinated the pickup of his car which was then hauled cross country to us in Georgia. Once the car arrived to us, the fun began. Upon the car's arrival, it was already outfitted with most of the bolt-ons along with one of our TSM etunes.

The goal for this GT-R was to have a versatile setup that could be used for road racing, street use, and an occasional trip to the drag strip. We paired our TSM Pro Eight turbos with out TSM 3.8L short block and street series heads to allow for engine reliability at these power levels. As with all of our head packages, this included GSC valves, springs, and retainers along with a set of TSM spec GSC camshafts. We also upgraded the intercooler and IC piping to finish off the required bolt-ons for this setup. Finally, we beefed up the transmission with a Shepherd stage 2.5+B basket.

After the new upgrades were installed, it was time for some dyno tuning to dial everything in. We were able to make 787whp on pump gas and 823 on 100oct race gas with very little noticeable loss in spool over the factory turbos. This amazing GT-R is now back in the customers hands beating up on the local competition.

Oliver, thank you for trusting us to build your car and enjoy the new power!

Very nice! Cicio can you share some thoughts on the power being so close between pump and 100? I don't recall seeing any other setups that were this close. Specifically, would you expect to be able to make significantly more than the 100 octane numbers if you used E85? Or is there something else in the combo that limits max power? The pump numbers look great and it seems like you'd be hard pressed to justify the extra cost of 100 on a regular basis to only pick up 36whp.

Sorry for the small delay in answering this Jeff.

The way we use 100oct here is kinda like some people would use octane booster. I don't lean super hard on a car with 100 in it just because is is very minimally more set proof than a good pump gas. Not to mention that most people when putting 100oct in the car dump it on top of some pump gas which doesn't help either.

So that all said the difference between Oliver's pump gas map and "race gas" map is only about 1psi and a degree of timing or so.

Now, if we were to tune the car on C16 or Q16 or E85 I would lean on it WAY harder with confidence. Oliver however didn't care to have much more than 800whp given what he uses the car for so the best route to do that was with a somewhat inexpensive race gas tune.

I hope that answers the question... let me know if that stems into more.
