Money aside the only con I see is the clutch will be limited unless they release different plate thicknesses to allow more plates.  A quality 8 plate will hold approx 900-950 ft lbs.  The plates they use are not compatible with anything we have right now.

We have built 2 of these so far and the builds went together extremely well.

Great insight into the HKS transmission ugprade.  Would this be a concern at all for a car that wouldn't be launched, but would be used on a road course (repeated shifting from between gears 3-4-5)?

Quick question for THE SHEP. Does HKS do any thing to help with 4th gear support. Or is that a problem with higher hp cars. IE car with north of 1400whp?

I would expect a road course car would be well under this torque so no I do not see an issue at all.

What they have done will work fine for the torque range they expect through the clutch :)

can you stick dodson clutches into that basket?

if not, would it be good idea to swap the hks clutch basket out to a dodson one and sell the hks to anyone running less power (if one would like to run more torque)?

Kinda off topic, but how many miles to you all get to a tank while tracking the car?

Btwn 3 and 4mpg depending on the day and the track. 16psi tune, all stock hardware/exhaust, etc.

I have never made it a full day on one tank, always gotta fill up at least once, sometimes twice...

I'm about 7-8 on my tuned car.  Something tells me that mine will be gulping gas after this build!

ahh makes sense.  Now that I understand a bit what goes into these I see why you have some builds with more plates.  The jotech guys tried to explain it to me when I was at the shop last.

what kinda torque would you say it would be safe for this tranny?  I don't plan to run 1000hp.  Hopefully around 7-800hp at the track and whatever torque that might be.

thanks for all the feed back Shep!

heading to drop off some parts at Jotech tomorrow and take a look at the state of the build.

One thing that I got in the mail today was the AMS duck bill trunk!

Holy holy hell this thing is LIGHT!

this one was specially made with reinforcements for the Aeromotion wing.  Pics later tomorrow... or tonight if I get off my butt

Got a chance to see some of 7racer's new parts in person last night! Tillet seats are the bomb! AMS carbon duckbill and Aeromotions wing! RB calipers! What an epic build! Gonna try to stop by Jotech tonight to take a peak at the car.

Stopped by Jotech today to drop off parts.  Not much to report as they had other projects going on but I am in no rush.  They said they plan to go at it next week!

and about pictures of the trunk...so fail today.  Take the camera out and of course I left the CF card at home!  grrr

Pics tomorrow or Saturday.

I have to admit the AMS trunk is really amazing.  SOOOOO light and strong.  Super stoked about the trunk!  Plus it has extra reinforcements to mount the Aeromotion wing without the endplates.

sorry for the lack of updates.  Went to the PCP today after not getting any better and my white count is high with a possible tonsilar abscess.  That would explain why I have been feeling so crappy.  He gave me some steroids to help and swelling and think it gave me a bit of energy to catch up on emails and the forum.  Anyways here are some pics

Kenny and Gabe at Jotech was nice enough to text me some updates.

They said they were going to start breaking down my car next week but they got to it Saturday.  I was surprised how quick they dropped the rear and engine!

and here is some pics of the AMS duck bill.  As far as I know.  I am the only one with the AMS duck bill that has it mounted for the aeromotion wing.  The guys at AMS were great.  Eric dealt with my emails asking if it was possible to get the reinforced trunk but in a duck bill.  Next thing I hear they say they can do it!  So off and ordered it!

So again this is the special collaboration with AMS and aeromotion making a reinforced trunk for their wings.  Instead of those reinforcing foot plates these just insert with small tiny feet!

Too damn cool

When I got the trunk, I thought it was a mistake.  That I got the wrong non-reinforced trunk as it is so FREAKING LIGHT.  I wish I could express how light this is but when they quote the weight as just over 5 lbs...they aren't kidding!  Its UNBELIEVABLY light!

Anyways enjoy the pics.

I don't think you can appreciate it by this pic but there is a nice kevlar weave and what feels like extra CF reinforcements where the wing sits.
