I like how the turbos are mounted at the front of the motor, how the car is RWD, how its equipped with a power glide - all signs of a dedicated dragster.  I can't wait to see the numbers it runs - Im guessing mid 7s

:golf clap: @ front facing the turbos. Any shots of the manifolds? I know switzer likes the log type mani's but I would guess it's tubular for this setup? Awesome stuff, Switzer perf!

Any car that makes 1200, 1500 etc etc HP is a dedicated drag car. One certainly can't and  isn't road racing it. You may do street pulls with it but it's still in a straight line.

Regarding their "Beast", kudos to Switzer for putting in RD and bulding something that may last, because GR6 reliability is horrible. I've gone through it and I know friends who have gone through multiple GR6s. Something had to change.

Bedies the trans, what I am really interested in is how they have the engine, turbos, fuel, intercooler, etc set up. Looks like you'd have to completely reinvent the powerplant to make it all work. This car truley is one a kind.

Can't wait to see what it can do.

It will go 6.9x or low 7s for sure. The power glide is streetable as long as it is set up the right way. Losing AWD sucks though, but then, this trans isn't really for average big power GTR build.

Cool work on the conversion.

Why is power-glide transmission incompatible to AWD?

How much does this Switzer Beast weigh?

Powerglide is typically used in Muscle/drag cars in the US. Muscle car are all RWD, so an AWD setup was never built. One could have an AWD system built but will require a lot of cash.

AWD isn't out of the question here, it just was never intended to be designed from the get-go. Jamie drives a low-7s 200mph rwd supra and we've seen him pedal this thing down the track like a funny car and still run a 9.6 at well over 170, with a 3s 60' time... LOL.

We've got a lot more testing to do, it was a shame we couldn't run it this weekend due to weather but that's racing.

I know it'll be cool as hell, but I think at that point it would defeat the purpose of having a simple, inexpensive PG setup.

I don't think we have a plate for it handy but it is definitely very streetable. Nothing was cut out to get it to fit, just some quality engineering by Tym and the crew at SPI. It's a proof-of concept build meant to help us push out engine program further than what the GR6's limitations has let us do. We have other builds that push the GR6 to capacity and will continue to push the envelope in that arena, this was just another way to get the job done and to give the owner maximal seat time without fear of blowing the diff out on the ground, burning up $10K clutches, or breaking gears left and right.

When Super 99 builds start blowing Stg 4 transmissions like the 4th of July, these extreme measures (power glide) become necessary.

The GR6 is the new "Toys R Us" transmission.
