The biggest lesson for me was learning what those voltage charts all over the internet meant.

I did not find it necessary to remove the white plug, that is designed so the panel can slide in and out using the head's channel as a guide.  Those little doodads have been used for years so that a panel can be removed, but only in one direction.  It can be slid into place, and then secured only using one fastener.  That is not how it is used in this application, but it does make that panel fiddly to remove.

Nice work on the DIY's.  You are much appreciated.

like the DIYA also!

I really liked my titan/lithiumpro battery setup but the battery had issues with the recharging from the factory alternator.  Almost everyone with this battery has had them fail.  From what it sounds like it would have been best to use the lithium pro in car, then disconnect and put on a trickle charger made for lithium batteries.

I was watching Motorweek on PBS and they had a battery expert from a battery manufacturer on, and he said it is actually the heat that shortens the life of a battery and when cold/winter weather comes is when you realize it and have to replace the battery.  I can't remember witch episode it was.

good to know, but the lithiums i would only switch in when on track, or trickle charge otherwise. known issue. great battery for ehat they are for, but they are unfortunately not an all around battery.

my battery (not gtr) gets really bad in negative weather, maybe it was the heat that caused it.

Both are responsible.  Extreme cold increases the internal load, which increase sulfation rate, a known killer of batteries.  Bet on 5-7 years at best.  Any more than that is gravy and you are in "the bonus round".  But, always recycle and nothing is lost.  The lead needs to go back to the car battery makers, so we can keep it out of the resource stream.

not sure...they "look" like repackaged batteries...

I see the D680 is the same size and ?same specs as the Lithiumpro L680

http://lithiumpros.c...rpack-with-bms/

http://4xspower.com/.../d-series/d680/

it might have the same problem with taking a charge from the alternator and charging from dead.  They seem pretty inexpensive.  I might give the D680 a go.

sorry...so these are AGM? (just googled it)....would these be more durable than the liPO4?

Modern AGM batteries are the best balance of technology and durability. But, they are expensive.

Oldest examples are: http://www.optimabat.../agm-batteries/

More modern ones are these:
http://m.advanceauto...erm=agm battery

They will last longer due to resistance to degradation, and will maintain CCA longer.

The lithiums are great, but have to be stored carefully, and not resistant to extremes of temperature. Want a perfect example, try to boot your laptop at ten below zero. (Although there are other reasons for that as well).

My experience with the downsides of AGM's are the infant mortality. Some of them fail very early in life, but usually come with a short term full replacement warranty (not prorated).

Weather got nice and I wanted to drive my car. Went to the dealer and bought an OEM replacement for $100. Installation was easy pretty easy. You have to remove the molding around the bottom of the windshield so my advise would be to be careful when you swinging tools close to the edge of the glass.

Easiest

Been working with enshiu on my car for the past 2 days. This guy is a mad scientist. He knows his stuff about GT-Rs. We spent the past few days changing brakes, rotors and upgrading my  gotboost full intercooler piping. Enshiu will post pics of my car later.
