What are some of your cleaning techniques?

I always start with the interior of the car, cleaning the dash first using interior quick detailer. I usually spray it onto the microfiber cloth and then wipe it down.

Once the dash is clean I start cleaning the glass spraying the glass cleaner onto the cloth and then wiping down the glass. I still haven't really perfected a way of cleaning the glass, any input?

I'll move on to vacuuming the car using a 6 hp shop vac and a long hair paint brush to get into all of the cracks and creases.

For the carpets I'll use a tire brush to clean them, if there is any stubborn dog/people hair I use a pumas stone and rub it against the carpet and that usually removes all of the hair.

Once the carpets are clean I'll clean the door jams using a long hair paint brush and lots of soap and to rinse it I'll use a misting spray to minimize any splashing into the interior.

For the exterior I use a two bucket method with grit guards at the bottom and a wool mitt. I wash the car in panels, once each panel is done, I dunk the mitt into the water bucket and agitate the mitt to loosen any trapped dirt in the mitt. I usually wash the mitt after I take it out.

In order to dry it I use a filtered leaf blower to blow out any water from any cracks and wipe it down with a diluted version of optimum no rinse wash to remove any water spots.

Good information Santorican. I have been spoiled just using a bottle of windex on the vinyl wrap, now I guess back to the 3hr+ deep cleaning. lol

I know all about that moody weather out here in Miami. I just wish I had a place to wash my car other than work makes me lazy about doing it

That's a pretty awesome process you've got there.

Mine is pretty much the same, just flipped - I wash the car first.

What product do you guys use?

Usually just off the shelf meguiars stuff, I'm currently migrating towards their professional stuff. I'm finding it lasts longer.

Ya, I've used some of their products and have found the same results.

Anyone ever used the Griots Garage stuff?

I recently started using some of their products and I'm really happy so far.

+1 Great process.

I live in the city in a high-rise so I don't have access to a water hose or power plug in garage for vacuum. Makes things kind of difficult. I've done the two-bucket wash before, but usually just take it somewhere for the exterior, or do it at a spray wash. Interior process is like this:

Vacuum with a hand-held Vac that runs of 12V in car. Not powerful, but I don't DD any cars so they don't get too dirty anyways.

Then I use interior quick detailer over the dash and any non-leather trim to clean everything. I've used Meguiar's, Poorboy's, and Einszett 1Z.

Then I go over all of the leather with a two-step process. I use either Leatherique Rejuvivnator/Cleaner or Lexol Cleaner/Conditioner. You clean then condition with Lexol, and the other way around with Leatherique. I basically start in one seat of the car, work my way around, then let it sit for a bit, then start over with the second step.

Once everything is dry, I go over the entire interior with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I don't have a good process for the windows, but the last time we did them we used Chemical Guys Window Clean and it worked great and not really any streaking.

I really wish I had an exterior waxing and protectant process for the car, but I don't know where to start. Usually I just spray wash often and then carry around a lot of quick detailer and microfiber cloths.

Anyone got any tips for cleaning between the windscreen and the a pillar? There is a good amount of crap built up there but the gap is too small to squeeze a cloth or microfibre in the and apply enough pressure to get it clean.
