The BAC Mono is not really an open wheel car, it's got fenders, right? If it's road legal and meets the "convertible" rules of whomever is running the HPDE I would think you could run in the event.

that's what I said!  But I asked the organizer of The Drivers Edge and he said "no".

Apex said yes......

not sure what class I would run on a members day (what MSR would make me do...who do I ask about that?)

Did The Driver's Edge say why they said 'no'? Maybe because the rear fenders don't cover all of the wheels?

I would still absolutely LOVE this car...pricewise, could easily get the Viper ACR with money left over or the Z06..

interesting they already switched engines from the Cosworth and they might be planning a turbo model and maybe even electric?

and it looks like the porsche guy that bought one of the first is selling his.

LOL can't believe I have been following this car since 2013!

so yesterday was interesting....I finally got to drive a Mono in the track!

a quick backstory...

I was messaging BAC on Instagram and how I have been trying to get a test drive and some of the concerns I had about the car, ownership, etc..

Next thing I know is they offer me a test drive.  He mentioned to pick a day and track and they would get it worked out.

I then get a call from one of the sales guys.  Apparently the person I was talking to on IG was Neill Briggs!  The "B" in BAC!?!?!?! :o

They then arrange to fly out. YES, the president of BAC flew out, with the sales guy and an engineer.  The let me use the Mono from Tactical Fleet since it was local and we headed to Eagles Canyon!

There was one other interested customer from Austin whom we also arrange to drive the car.

We didnt go full out (lead follow) but when Neill was driving ahead of me we had a pretty fast pace.

The last crazy thing was they were hoping to get their pro driver Ollie Webb to come in to do the lead follow.  Then he was going to go out and try to set a track record.  But unfortunately his schedule conflicted.

regardless.  The car is AMAZING.  So well put together.  No mechanic issues...revs like stink.  Goes like a bat out of hell and just flies thru corners!  So Fun!!!

anyways enjoy the few pics (the guy with the white mono jacket is Neill Briggs)

no in car vid unfortunately. I was going to hook up a 360 cam but I was jumping in that and the GTR so bit hectic.  It would have shown me smiling ear to ear and laughing my head off!

LOL

the one thing is if I get this I need a new helmet.  With the ones I have, on the back straight, the wind was lifting my head out of the car!

I used my Apex app so not super accurate.  Also I was doing a lead follow.  Neill Briggs was in my 720s and I would follow in the Mono

the second session he did have a good pace and I got a 2:11 around ECR.

I remember during the Chin track day there was a Formula 3 guy who was close to a 2:00 flat.  Also a GT3RS on slicks getting a 2:08.

So I think not bad for just a lead follow!

also the tires were the Kumhos. They also have the Trofeos and slicks.  He keep feeling the tires after my sessions and was like you dont even have them hot yet!

Sure enough they still felt cold compared to the GTR!  He said he had a better compound for the temps we had (60s) and that the car has a lot more in it.

also on the first go around I was short shifting and felt the car to be sluggish.  So Neill recommend I turn on the "auto shift".  With that on, it will up shift for you but you have to downshift.

Holy hell, I forgot I could wind a car out so much!  Basically drive it like you stole it!  Kept the RPMs high and man.....the car rips!

SOOOO MUCHHHHH FUN!

I think 2:!3 the app was messing up a bit...

I was going to update the build thread.  Basically got rid of the thermostat and change coolant % and the car ran like a champ.  NO heat issue at all!

I was short shifting and on the second session my tuner was like "you aren't even using the power band"!!!

so I started high revving it!  BUT I overflowed the catch can and had to pull over.  I have like a dual redundancy catch can and it still fills....so that needs fixed next.  The car can go faster
